Max Chatterjee joined MasterCard in September 2002. He has responsibility for Advanced Payment sales for developed markets including the UK & Ireland. Products include MasterCard’s contactless payment solution PayPass, MasterCard consumer e-Commerce solutions, Mobile Payments and MasterCard’s CHIP Authentication Programme.

Before moving to his new role in 2008, he had responsibility within the HSBC Group Business Unit for account managing, developing and supporting HSBC’s European card business across fourteen markets excluding the UK. Within the team he had additional business development responsibility for MasterCard MIS products such as Portfolio Analytics.

Prior to the above, Max was responsible for developing new business opportunities for Member banks and MasterCard in the Commercial market, specifically based on the introduction of new Commercial payment solutions. In addition he had global responsibility for developing and managing MasterCard’s Multinational Programme. In addition, Max spent two years as Vice President, responsible for Business Development for Commercial card payments at Citibank for the EU region.

Max has 14 years experience in T&E related industries. At Visa International, he was responsible for developing its T&E market programmes and Commercial payment services for Visa’s Single Currency Unit to prepare for the introduction of the Euro. Prior to joining Visa he worked for Hertz for five years in various markets including Australia, Switzerland and the UK.

Max is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and holds a Diploma in Management from the Open University; a Diploma in Bank Card Management from the Chartered Institute of Bankers; and is currently studying for an MBA. He is also a participating Member of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) global committees.

His interests include diving (he is a qualified Dive Master) and flying (he has a UK private pilots license). He speaks four languages.
