> Liverpool’s 2004/2005 UEFA Champions League success was its fifth in Europe’s premier club competition.
> Only Real Madrid (nine) and AC Milan (six) have won the competition on more occasions.
> In domestic soccer, Liverpool holds the record for English championships with 18 but the last was 16 years ago.
> Liverpool’s 0-7 victory at Birmingham City in this season’s FA Cup was its biggest ever away win in the competition.

Asian Champions League
> The competition began in 2002/2003 when the Asian Champions Cup and Asian Cup Winners Cup merged.
> Al-Ain (UAE) won the tournament in 2002/2003 and Al-Ittihad (KSA) has won the two subsequent editions.
> This season’s competition had seven groups with holders Al-Ittihad receiving a bye to the quarter-finals.
> Clubs from 14 nations were allowed to enter but the clubs from Thailand and Indonesia were disqualified.
> The forerunner to the competition, the Asian Champions Cup ran from 1967 to 1971 and from 1986 to 2002.

Panathinaikos
> Panathinaikos is a Greek soccer team that was formed in 1908 and based in the capital city of Athens.
> The club has won 19 Greek Championships with the last triumph in 2004.
> Panathinaikos was the first, and to date only, Greek club to reach a European club final.
> In 1970/1971, the club reached the Champions Cup final but lost 2-0 to Ajax.
>
Panathinaikos is most famous for its soccer club but the club takes part in 20 other sports.
