Dear Editor, As the chairman of the government relations committee for the World Poker Association, I welcome all World Poker Association members into the fold of a In these times of spotlighted legal issues that hamper the enjoyment of poker on the internet, the government relations committee of the WPA is helping poker players around the world to learn where to find valuable information regarding government activity. The government relations committee is dedicated to helping WPA members make their voices heard in corridors of political power in all four corners of the globe. The issue of regulation as presently envisioned in the recent Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 is mind boggling to any responsible, freedom loving poker player anywhere. Regardless of how distressing one considers this legislation, let us focus on our ability to proceed forward with strong voices that can positively impact legislators and other regulators. Nowhere is this opportunity more clearly available than in the United States of America.
The committee will update the names and contact information of legislators and other regulators around the world who will be affected by our collective voices. Our concern is to protect the rights of the poker industry in its responsible business endeavours.
