15th Asian Games
> The 2006 edition in Doha, Qatar (1-15 December 2006) marks the second time the Asian Games will have been held in a West Asian country.
> The only previous time was in 1974 when the Games were held in Tehran, Iran.
> A record of 7,500 participants are expected to compete in Doha 2006.
> In Doha 2006, 39 different sports will be contested. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, 28 sports were on the schedule.
> Athletics, Basketball, Diving, Football [Soccer] and Swimming are the five sports which have been present at all Asian Games.

> UEFA stands for Union of European Football Associations. It is the governing body of European soccer.
> UEFA was founded on 15 June 1954 in Basel, Switzerland. It is currently headquartered in Nyon, Switzerland.
> Sweden’s Lennart Johansson has been UEFA’s president ever since 1990.
> Currently, 53 national soccer associations make up UEFA. The original number of nations was 25.
> UEFA is allocated more spots than any other federation in the World Cup, entering 14 of 32 nations in 2006.

Dublin
> Dublin is the home of the International Rugby Board (IRB), the world governing body for rugby union.
> The IRB organises some of the sport’s international competitions including the Rugby World Cup.
> The next Rugby World Cup takes place in 2007 and will be hosted by France.
> Lansdowne Road in Dublin is Ireland’s home for rugby union. It will be rebuilt between the end of 2006 and 2009.
> The new stadium will be a 50,000 all-seater stadium and will cost 365 million euros to build.

> MK Dons came into existence in June 2004 after Wimbledon FC changed its name to MK Dons.
> Wimbledon FC had moved to the city of Milton Keynes in 2003 and played there from the 2003-04 season.
> The club will move to a new stadium near Bletchley railway station for the 2007-08 season.
> MK Dons currently play in League Two in England after being relegated from League One in 2005-06.
> The current manager of MK Dons is Martin Allen, known as ‘Mad Dog’ during his playing career.
