Super League (Rugby Football League)

> It is the only professional Rugby League competition in the northern hemisphere.
> The league began in 1996 and matches are played between February and September.
> Play-offs are contested between the top six teams with the Grand Final deciding the championship winners.
> St Helens is the most successful club, winning the championship five times.

Archery

> Target Archery is an Olympic sport where competitors shoot arrows at a target placed 30-90 metres away.
> There are various other versions of the sport including Field Archery, 3D Archery, Clout Archery and Ski Archery.
> The current individual Olympic Champion (2004) is Italy’s Marco Galiazzo.
> The current individual World Champion (2005) is South Korea’s Jae-Hun Chung.
> South Korea holds the current Olympic and World Champion honours in the team event.

Charlton Athletic

> Charlton Athletic’s only major honour is the 1947 FA Cup which the club won by beating Burnley 1-0.
> Charlton Athletic was also Division One champion in 1999-2000.
> After seven successive seasons in the Premiership, the club was relegated in the 2006-07 season.
> Charlton’s best ever league season was in 1936-37 when the club finished runner-up to Manchester City.

Juventus

> Juventus has just won promotion back to Italy’s leading soccer league Serie A after competing in Serie B for the first time in the club’s history.
> The club’s relegation was due to the 2006 Serie A scandal which alleged match fixing.
> Juventus was stripped of its Serie A titles in 2005 and 2006 because of this scandal.
> Juventus was also not allowed to compete in the Champions League, was relegated to Serie B and given a nine point penalty.
> Despite the nine point penalty, Juventus easily won the 2006-07 season’s Serie B championship.
