> One of the city’s biggest annual sporting events is a marathon that is held every August.
> Popular children's television show Lazy Town is filmed in studios in Iceland's capital city and is exported all over the world.

Palmeiras

> Palmeiras is a Brazilian soccer club from São Paulo which was founded in 1914.
> The club was founded by four Italians and originally named Società Sportiva Palestra Italia.
> In March 2007, Palmeiras was recognised by FIFA as the first world champion for winning the 1951 Copa Rio.
> Palmeiras has also won six national championships, two national cups and the 1999 Copa Libertadores.
> The club’s last major national success was in 1994 when it won the Brazilian Championship.

Barcelona World Race

> The Barcelona World Race is a sailing competition, of which the inaugural edition started in November 2007.
> It features nine double-handed vessels in a round-the-world competition estimated to last some 90 days.
> After two stages, Team Paprec-Virbac 2 and their French/Irish crew held the overall lead.
> The second stage was won by the Delta Dore, manned by two Frenchmen.
> The Barcelona World Race is intended as a sporting event that should take place every four years.
